Rejuvenate and revitalize damaged skin with this yummy oatmeal + brown sugar scrub. Combine simple ingredients from your kitchen cabinet and enjoy a spa day at home! Organic body scrubs are expensive, but you can easily make this one on your own. I have sensitive skin and chose to only use ingredients that are gentle, but still effective at sloughing off dead skin cells and giving skin a healthy glow (oats, brown sugar, sweet almond oil, honey, orange, vanilla extract).
Here’s how it works:
Oatmeal – extremely nourishing for the skin; gentle, yet deep exfoliant; removes excess oil and dirt from skin pores
Brown Sugar – gentle, yet deep exfoliant; removes dead skin cells to renew skin; deliciously sweet smelling
Sweet Almond Oil – deep moisturizer; soothes & treats skin allergies; removes dark spots
Honey – moisturizes & softens skin; contains antibacterial, anti-inflammatory & antiseptic properties to fight acne; reduces fine lines
Orange – skin brightener; high dose of vitamin C
Vanilla Extract – skin soothing; used in tradition remedies to treat burns and acne
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup oats
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp sweet almond oil
- 1 Tbsp organic honey
- 1 tsp Orange essence (or some juice from 1 slice of a fresh orange)
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
Directions:
Use a food processor to pulse oats until they reach a coarse texture* (sugar-like). Mix all ingredients together in bowl. Rub over skin and rinse with warm water.
*I like to us a food processor or blender to make the oats finer & easier to rub on skin (also, this makes them less likely to clog your drain!).
